Microsoft Outlook down: Users unable to access emails

Microsoft Outlook down: Hundreds unable to access hotmail emails

Microsoft Outlook users are experiencing problems this morning. Many are seeing a “something went wrong” message when they try to log in.

Hundreds of people have reported issues throughout the morning, according to Down Detector. Most cite problems with logging in and connecting to servers.

This appears to be a global issue affecting Microsoft Outlook and Hotmail users on both desktop and mobile devices. However, other Microsoft products like Microsoft 365, Skype, and Teams are reportedly working fine.

A Microsoft user shared a notification stating, “users may be unable to access their mailbox using any connection method.”

Microsoft’s service update also reads, “We’re having issues, but we’re working on it.” A later update from Microsoft said, “We’ve determined the cause of the issue and have started deployment of a fix. We expect the fix to take an extended period following our safe change management process.”

Many Microsoft users have expressed their frustration on social media. They also noted a lack of information about the problem.

As of now, the official Microsoft Outlook social media profile has not shared an update regarding the reported technical issues.

Unable to access hotmail account after weekend outage

A user wrote: “My husband and I both lost access to our Hotmail accounts during the Microsoft outage weekend of 1st/2nd March. We were travelling abroad at the time so very inconvenient. I’ve since been able to recover my account but we have not been able to recover my husbands. Whilst abroad my husband completed the relevant form to regain access.

“The form was turned down twice presumably as we were abroad. Since returning to UK we have submitted 3 more forms and not received any response whatsoever from Microsoft. This is now getting very urgent as my husband does not have an alternative account. He would appreciate assistance to get this resolved. Thank you.”

Microsoft team said: “Starting July 16, you will no longer be able to create new questions here in the Microsoft Support Community. However, you can continue to participate in ongoing discussions and create new questions on Microsoft Q&A“.
